A small midfielder/forward prospect from Swan Districts, Newman's first season was promising when he was able to break into a fairly strong Eagles side to make his debut. However alleged off season misdemeanours resulted in a fairly serious charge being laid, and it seemed to leave Newman in disarray, culminating in him disappearing from a WAFL game mid-match - which was nothing compared to the jail term he was given. At the end of the 2013 season, Newman was delisted from the main list with an agreement that he would be re-drafted as a rookie.
After completing his time in prison, Newman was retained for the 2015 season on the rookie list, playing two games late in the season, but was finally delisted at the end of the season. |
