Very, very highly rated as an under 16, Tom Swift came to the Eagles after missing his last two seasons of underage footy with a pair of knee problems (one an ACL causing him to miss an entire year). Prior to that, he was touted as likely top three draft material but the gap saw him drop to the second round.
Despite a few promising fits and starts to his AFL career, Swift only looked for a period in 2009 that he was likely to go on to make a name for himself at AFL level, and after only playing 34 games in his four seasons at the Eagles, dropped a bit of a bombshell at the end of 2012 when he walked away from the game at only 22 years old to study medicine instead, despite the Eagles wanting to retain him for the 2013 season. |

at AFL Stats http://stats.rleague.com/afl/afl_index.html.
For the 1987-1992 stats, much thanks to carneagles
for providing me a copy of the stats created for corkintheocean,
probably the best footy blog out there. Go read it! |
