A promising tall defender, Jaymie Graham was recruited onto the rookie list to enhance the club's defensive tall roster. Graham was temporarily promoted to the main list early in the 2004 season, but did not manage to break into the side, and was retained on the rookie list for the 2005 season. Season 2005 saw Graham promoted back on to the main list for the luckless Zac Beeck, and he has followed this up with being elevated to the main list proper for the 2006 season.
After a promising 2006 season where Graham played nearly every game, but was unluckily omitted for David Wirrpanda for the Grand Final, Graham had a bad run with injuries over the 2007 and 2008 seasons, with a consequent inability to regain his form and fitness.
At the end of the 2008 season Graham elected to retire from football to focus on looking after his young family including adopting a young sister left parentless by the death of his mother - something he said would make the required effort to be an AFL footballer an impossibility.
Graham took on an assistant coaching role at St Kilda for the 2012 and 2013 seasons |
