Player Information |
|
Wirrpunda is a very talented player, shining at the peak of his career when running loose around the back half of the ground picking up the ball at will, while not loosing the appearance of lazy brilliance that just looks so good when he turns it on. The youngest ever Eagle when he debuted as a sixteen year old in 1996, Wirrpanda became a definite starter in the best 22 in the latter part of his career and a premiership player in 2006. After tasting premiership success, Wirra managed to play on for another three seasons before calling it a day at the end of the 2009 season as one of the longest serving Eagles and a club hero after 227 games.
His silky skills across the half back line impressed everyone; his trademark one handed pickup as he cleared the defensive fifty were a trademark. However he also impressed off the field with years of devoted work in the indigenous communities of Western Australia, work that he is sure to continue in retirement. |
