Player Information |

From fringe player to cult hero in one season sums up Quinten Lynch. Elevated of the rookie list, he was a reasonable success early on as a forward, but after sitting out 2003 entirely, it was as a center half back in 2004 that Lynch first established a place in the team. The spot that beckoned however for the man-mountain was full-foward, and despite little experience in the role, Lynch was given the task of spearhead for 2005. It wasn't a great experience, eventually being dropped for the Preliminary and Grand Finals, but he regained the spot at the start of 2006, and went about making it his own.
With his trademark glove and the accompanying glove-throw making him one of the Eagles fan's favourites, Lynch kicked 62 goals in 2006 to become a valuable part of the Eagles structure, and made up for the disappointment of being dropped in the finals last year with a superb finals series and a premiership medallion.
While 2006 was Lynch's best season in front of goals, his career took another unexpected twist in the latter part of 2008 where necessity became a virtue seeing Lynch playing a part as the backup ruckman and even as a giant midfielder, roles he performed with relish, indeed coming second in the club's best and fairest.
Lynch now appears the most versatile player on the list, someone that can be moved around to wherever he can create the best effect; this versatility will make him a core part of the Eagles rebuilding years. |
