Player Information |

Glen Jakovich was one of the great center half backs of the game, anchoring one of the great half back lines in football history alongside long term club captain John Worsfold and Guy McKenna.
Jakovich started as a tall skinny key position player, playing his debut game against the Bears at center half forward. However his talents lay back at center half back where he forged a formidable reputation and his battles with Kangaroo hero Wayne Carey was one of the legendary matchups of the 90s.
The almost unbreachable half back line led the Eagles to two premierships, a runner up and won Jakovich the club champion award in 1993 (with Don Pyke), 1994 and 1995. Unfortunately he missed a year over 1996-1997 with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (a knee to the uninitiated!), and struggled to return to his best form. While he never quite reached his pre-knee heights, he was still good enough to net a fourth club champion award in 2000. A late career switch to center half forward proved a mixed success, but Jako still bows out a champion of the game. |
