Player Information |

At the start of 2004 Darren Glass was one of two player vying for the not-quite-vacant full back position at the Eagles, but early injuries saw him unable to challenge early in the season. However when he finally managed to ease back into the side the consistency that had eluded him in earlier seasons shone forth, making him an automatic selection as the club's full back each week.
While there may be some questions still to be asked about Glass's disposal, there is no doubt that he is now the club's premier tall defender and in fact one of the most crucial players in the team. A solid 2004 was followed with an equally solid 2005 season, where other than a few games Glass has shown that he has the ability to handle the best full forwards in the competition.
In many ways, Glass is one of the most important players in the team, and when he is missing, the club's backline looks much shakier than when he is present. This value to the team resulted in his appointment as captain for the 2008 season - a solid appointment during a dark period for the club. Despite the darker days of 2009 and the spoon season of 2010, Glass led from the front (as much as a full back can!) in leading the Eagles back out of the wilderness, and back into the finals.
Glass's impressive career has been marked with being the first Eagle named as All-Australian captain in 2012, but after signing a one year contract for 2014, Glass decided mid-season that he was unable to play on due to struggling to put consecutive games together. Finishing on 270 games, he finishes as the club's third highest games player. |
