Player Information |

In 2003 Michael Gardiner proved why the Eagles had invested a #1 draft pick on the Albany native back in 1996 when he showed he was the competition's premier ruckman, and was instrumental in the Eagles brilliant early season form. However tragedy struck his career early in 2004 with a knee injury in round four putting Gardiner out for the remainder of the season.
After missing the best part of a year, Gardiner was given a forward role in the 2005 season, but injury conspired to cruel any match fitness he managed to gain, while off field indiscretions continued to haunt the tall ruckman. Continued indiscretions throughout 2006 combined with injury problems saw the Eagles wash their hands of Gardiner and trade him onward to St Kilda at the end of the season for a token return. |
