Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonModerators: Mead, Streaker, Mr Q Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonPersonally I'd like to see Karpany get a run and this would be a good side to get the run against; we really need to find out if four years of investment is going to pay off. Speed and skills so a perfect replacement for Venables. Seemed to be in good form a couple of weeks ago: 24 disposals, 12 contested possessions, six marks and three inside 50s against the Falcons.
Bugger about Venables, really liked his dash and we need to get games into him. Proud 2017 sponsor of Liam -Dangerfield- Duggan, Will Schofield, Simon - the tank - Tunbridge & Tom Gorter
Past sponsor; 2016 self appointed sponsor of Sam it's better with Butler, 2015 of Jamie lace out Bennell, Scooter - future vice-captain - Selwood. 2013 of Mitch - Mr Required - Brown, (And he stayed), 2012 of Scott - the future - Lycett, (And he is), 2011 of Vice Captain – fair, but get out of his way - Beau Waters, (His greatest year)
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs Carlton
It sucks. Even more if ground management knew there was a problem. As much as I dislike Freo I would hate to see someone like Fyfe, with his leg issues, get done over by the surface this week. Questions need to be asked.

Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonOne of the things I'm looking forward to this week is seeing how we play the wider MCG.
Our new stadium is a huge change on Subiaco, and our ball use through the middle of the ground has looked really good at times - using the extra space available to hit targets. This gameplan should work well on the MCG, but I really want to see it in action - hope the boys bring the intent... I don't want a scrappy win which keeps people querying our form at the 'home of footy'. Especially if we are playing there another 50 years.
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonWe have been granted access to train on the ground before Saturday. Last time we got that was for thr 2015 GF.

Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonOh thank you thank you all mighty and powerful VFL for deigning to allow a lowly interstate side to train on the hallowed turf that is the MCG. We know we aren’t worthy and are truly honoured and grateful for this most special of indulgences.
We are so very lucky that the VFL is the custodian of our great game and has entrenched a deal for the betterment of all. Once again, thank you thank you.
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs Carlton
Totally! Just for that they can add another 30 years onto the MCG's GF lockdown with my full blessing. Wow, I feel like the cat that got the cream and some fresh fish as well. Training on the G ... who'da thunk it! ![]()
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonMore access for interstate clubs to train on the 'hallowed' turf was part of the agreement to extend the VFLS hold on the GF remaining in Prictoria
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonHaha!
Apparently, we threw the argument, your teams get to train at PS before they play there. Simmo said in his presser we are planning on playing a few more kids over the next few weeks. He mentioned Karpany, Partington and Petruccelle. The only team we are destined to be is the team we decide to be. - West Coast Eagles, 2018 Premiers
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonMark Hutchings, Francis Watson and Tom Cole were all part of West Coast’s travelling party at Perth Airport this afternoon, with the final team to be confirmed later today.
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs Carlton
Watson curious. An extra defender? Or playing on half forward. The only team we are destined to be is the team we decide to be. - West Coast Eagles, 2018 Premiers
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonIn: Hutchings
Out: Venables Watson, Cole, Petruccelle, Schofield emergencies. The only team we are destined to be is the team we decide to be. - West Coast Eagles, 2018 Premiers
Re: Round 5: Eagles vs CarltonPoor selection table work again if this is a development year. Missed the opportunity to get a game into one or two younger players and rest some slightly sore ones. Big game next week and we will not be able to play with such things for the month after that either.

Re: Round 5: Eagles vs Carlton
I think Simpson said he was planning on playing more youngsters in the next few weeks. It's round 5 and we have debuted four players. There's another 17 weeks to bring in new players. Make the switch now
