A much needed 10 days between facing the swine and whorks.
Our WAFL team is struggling, they just cant execute simmos game plan due to their lack of skills. Its a bit worrying as they need to come up with a game plan that suits the players, how can they learn & develop anything if they are getting smashed week in week out.
the stats sheet looked tremendous for some players but I never saw the game so don't actually know if they had any influence or were damaging with their touches. although a near on 100 point thumping suggests zero influence.
In: Sheed, Murtimer Out: Vardy, Lecras (Susp)
I'm just not a fan of the giles/vardy combo. Natanui is a unique breed, we can have 2 ruckmen when 1 is a contested beast.
Jetta smashed it on the stats sheet, but as i said in other threads we need to leave him in the WAFL for a solid month and re-evaluate. 26 kicks 6 marks and 6 inside 50's are a good argument to be straight back into the team though.

Jetta must be on borrowed time. He is not producing and never has in an Eagles guernsey. He always seems to need more time. I agree with the month-in-WAFL suggestion and if afterwards he is not delivering then cut losses at season's end. He is also showing a worrying trend towards testiness with teammates. Darling has improved very little from his exceptional debut season but can score 40+ in a season and, as such, should be a walk-up start unless his form falls away. Suggestions he be dropped to facilitate McGovern up front, are wayward. How could one justify Darling being banished while someone as one-dimensional as Masten is a walk-up start every game? McGovern is pure class down back - interceptions, contested marks, tackles etc. We seem to like moving players from their proven positions. Lecca, an All-Australian small forward while in his prime was constantly moved to midfield. Could never understand that.

Your right however Lecca was moved because we had sod all quality mids. McGovern played fwd for most of his WAFL career that being said. West Coast have a great fwd line apart from an Eddie Bets so leave him back. With the occasion swing.

McGovern is a better marking target than Darling. Darling is a better forward pressure player than McGovern That is how we need to use him - when Kennedy is getting swamped, use McGovern as an alternative target. We need somewhere to put Darling though...

3 Marks inside 50 whereas Darling has 8 marks inside 50 over 3 games, McGoverns average therefore is higher.

They've looked pretty good their last couple of games. I'm not looking forward to the derby anywhere near as much as I was 2 weeks ago! We'll actually have to earn that win now. -- One of McGovern's strengths is his superior reading of the play, so it plays to that strength when he is not the target of a kick - just as it plays to his strength when his direct opponent is not the target of a kick. That's when he's most likely to find his way to a contest uninvited and come away with a mark if not an arse-saving spoil. One game is not a great sample size for his effectiveness up forward, especially since it's his first real shot up there for quite a while. We've already seen in the past how good he can be. It's just a damn shame that we don't have 2 of him, but at least his versatility gives us flexibility.

Agree. But this looks like a case where the MRP are bound by their own rules. Because Allir Allir did the right thing and just got up and kept playing rather than roll around like he had been shot (or gone to the bench for an assessment), the impact was correctly graded as low. Even with that I was a little surprised that head contact didn't earn a week.
