East Perth Eagles

Anyone else following this game against Subi? Cannot help feeling there is something seriously wrong at EP.
We have a group of players who have been on the Eagles list for a number of years.....and all are doing very poorly.
Lack of ability? I doubt it because Partington, Mutimer and Karpeny at least all showed something when they got a chance last year.
On todays performance they all appear to be going backwards.
Thoughts?

Got absolutely belted.

They also have a new coach. WCE appointed.

Hutchings, Ainsworth, Partington and McInnes are the only WCE that have done something. Brander has pulled in 7 marks which isn't a bad effort.

Karpany 5 touches when this is the season he needs to break out.

Karpany has a slight issue now that the Eagles have gone and recruited Rioli and Ryan - who've both gone straight past him at speed.

He'll need to really stand up to get back in the team

How will Subi survive without the goldmine that existed with the Subi Sports Bar? The playing field gets much more level.

He hasn't really been able to take his opportunities. He clearly has good skills and tackles hard, but struggles for consistency. He was moulded into a high half forward, but with Ryan and Rioli in the team, Cripps is playing that role (and playing it well). I can't see Karpany getting an opportunity until an injury occurs to a like player. If he gets an opportunity he will need to take it otherwise his AFL career won't survive beyond this year. Disappointing really given his enormous skills and talent.

I think its make or break for the likes of Karpany, Mutimer & Partington.

While I don't give a toss about East Perth as part of the WAFL scene, I do care about East Perth due to the alignment.
There really seems to be something wrong there, and I hope it doesn't hurt development of WCE players.

Big win over WP today. Plenty of contributors. It seems that McInnes is finally finding his place as he's been good for a few weeks now. Only time will tell if he is good enough.

Partington, Karpany and Brander returned good figures.

We can't play Hutchings tomorrow. EP win handsomely without him and get belted with him.

A win against Perth.

Petruccelle kicked 4.1 from 11 touches, Karpany was flat again, Ainsworth solid, Partington wasn't playing, Brander kicked 2.3, AhChee 18 touches 6 tackles, O Allen 6 touches.

5 goals to Matt Allen against Peel yesterday.
Brander another 18 possessions and 4 shots at goal (2.2)
Bayok 18 possessions and 2 goals
AhChee 15 possessions and 6 tackles
Ainsworth 26 possessions
Hutchings 33 possessions
Schofield 27 possessions

Vardy injured again. Everyone working really hard. Our depth is awesome at the moment with strong competition for spots.

That's a pity about Vardy. I get the vibe that the match committee were just about to add him & McInnes into our forward line to give it some much-needed height :-P
(Seriously though, hope it's nothing too serious)

He may have aggravated the same injury which means another probably 6-8 weeks. I feel that we will need to rest a few players who are carrying niggling injuries over the next few weeks. Shuey, Naitanui, JK and Sheppard may need a break. That will require replacements such as Ainsworth, Hutchings, McInnes/Brander/Allen, Ah Chee and Watson (to name a few). I think Vardy was in that mix too.

It's great to see those at the second tier pushing for opportunities.
