Agree with FJ that Nelson and Schofield are the most under the gun due to the game they put in. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't make changes for other reasons either.

A few general thoughts.
To me, this year is a transition and development year. If we end up this year finishing 7-12 and using the same players we did in 2017 with a few games here and there into new guys then we have wasted a year. If 5+ of guys like Venables, Ryan, Cole, Brander, Ainsworth, Rioli, Petrucelle, Allen and Rioli get between 10 and 20 games apiece then we have really made huge advances for 2019 on.
I would make changes to achieve this. Masten was far from our worst in game 1, but we all accept that he is at the end of his career and in a game like this are we better off with Ainsworth, Brander or Petrucelle who looks made for the wing? Huthings was unlucky to miss and did a good job on JJ last year. Do we pick an extra mid (Hutchings) and lose a back (Nelson)? Cole probably would have played except for the family so would we be better with him over Schofield?
My general theory on draft picks is that high draft picks, unless injured like Venables, should play reasonable games in their first year. If you have a first rounder who doesn't look close for 2-3 years then he probably wasn't a first rounder.

So for this game I would...
Hutchings in, Nelson miss out.
Cole in, Schofield misses out.
Ainsworth (good in the WAFL warm up apparently), Brander or Petrucelle in, Masten misses unluckily.

And yes, I expect the Dogs to come out firing. I hate playing rebound from a thrashing teams. Soak it up early then put the squeeze on.

Only one change for me:

In: Cole
Out: Nelson

A few will be on notice that they need to lift.

On Nelson, someone else said the same thing. I'm not convinced by him, but a friend that knows his footy rates him very highly. I like his aggression, which we need. But skills and ability to actually influence the game seem low to non-existent.

Might have just been me but I thought Masten was better than average, and definitely not in the bottom 6.
Schofield - still think he should be retained. Unless Brander is ready, then I could handle that.

We should win. I will be disappointed if we dont.

The older guys (LeCras, NN, Hurn, Jetta, Shuey) have to take the same intensity, and have the same impact, as they had on Sunday. No more of this crap where you only play well in Perth. I will get angry quick if they dont.

Nelson kept Papley to one goal and, when he moved into the middle, Nelson kept Florent quiet. I'm not sure what more you want from him.

He was also happy to go in and get rough. He has some mongrel in him which is a good thing to have on the team.

Cole named for EP.

EP team list is out, kinda gives away who is in the running for us.

I think he is still having issues with his knee.

That is weird as he wasn't mentioned in the injury report by C. Vozzo

I'd think they would be wanting to get game time into him and building him up in the WAFL. I don't think he has run out a game yet.

I thought Masten was OK, and should be retained. It appears even he was surprised to be called up:

He had 15 disposals, 4 turnovers and gave a free kick for holding the ball, below average.

Rioli and Ainsworth named for debuts. Nobody out yet.

2018 and Channel 7 still hitting the fans with a delayed telecast. What a joke.
