Absolutely agree Pinion. If there are serious injuries during this monstrosity, fans will be livid.

Jaymie Graham will be the coach and Liam Duggan will be the captain.

Good learning experience for the kid. Shows who we may be looking at to be captain in a few years.

We are pretty much only taking our first and second years over.

Fyfe and S Hill are playing for the Dockers....gotta get something in the trophy cabinet at Cockburn somehow.

Fyfe has now been pulled out.

AFLX is the most boring thing I have ever seen.

On the bright side, some of our kids looked pretty good.

Petruccelle, Brayshaw, Watson, Venables, Rioli will all get games very early in the season. Rioli and Venables round 1, the other three not far behind.

Be interesting to see the two JTL games now.

I find it more interesting than soccer, but i really dont see why we need this concept. The AFL doesnt need a 20/20 gimmick.

I understand Gil would like to use this gimmick to take AFl overseas to places like Hong Kong where they could utilise a rugby field.

It is quite remarkable how bad AFLX is- it is basically AFL with everything I like about AFL removed.

It's just circlework drills with a scoreboard.

Yep, bruise-free, non-contact footy. The ball just went from one end to another.

You pretty much got penalised for doing proper footy things. A spoil out of bounds from a contest (if you were lucky to see a contest) that you normally give players a cheer of appreciation for during the normal season, ends up a free kick for the other team.

I think it looks like Professional Auskick.

I don't think I have spoken to anyone who actually liked it. Even BT wasn't excited when he was commentating.

Of course, all the AFL suits reckon it was a huge success.

It really did kill a lot of traditional elements. Also killed the ruckman. i dont get why the afl is so against stoppages. They are one of the great bits of our game. And if anything this game showed just how much the fans enjoy the game stopping briefly. Was really just a game for small nippy players. If I never saw another game of AFLX I wouldn't be upset.

Yes, Yes and Yes.

Boring as batshit but good to see the kids run around. The kids generally looked better than the more senior guys as a rule, which is heartening.

Hopefully they play well in the JLT and get to play in the season proper. If there is anything to learn from 2017, it is that we need an injection of pace and skill, and it wasn't coming from what we were putting out last year.

If they're serious about it, it will need some work.

Jack Petruccelle dislocated a finger, Matt Allen copped a knock to his right hip flexor and Willie Rioli succumbed to a minor knee ailment.

“Jack Petruccelle was flying in the AFLX and did a great job along with the young team over there, but unfortunately in the second game dislocated a finger,” Vozzo said. “I suspect it’s going to be a four- to five-week period before he’s able to start ball handling in a full sense and being able to play.

“Unfortunately for Matty Allen, in the AFLX again, he copped a right hip flexor. It’s not a big injury, but it’s going to set him back a week or two in terms of just settling down and his ability to train.

“Willie Rioli copped a knock to the knee in the AFLX. He was playing beautifully but he pulled up a bit sore after the first game, so on medical advice we didn’t take any risk in the second game. The doctors are quite happy, but he’ll probably have a light week this week, which will mean he’ll miss the first JLT game. We’re hoping he’ll be well and truly available for our next game.”
