Duggan = Real Deal

Postby Crazy Dazz on Sat May 23, 2015 3:52 pm

I have not been so impressed with a débutante since Naitanui.
Gaff was excellent, Darling was great, but in a sense expected because he was already a big strong lad.

Duggan is benefiting from having a raft of experienced mids ahead of him, and has played against some weak opposition, but he is never the less looking extremely impressive. Not just his attitude, and hardness at the ball, but his disposal is excellent.

I'd say that Sinclair probably has the overall lead, but Duggan was better today, and if he keeps this up he'll be chance for the rising star.

Duggan! Bugger.
Unbelievable, another plodder.
Duggan! Bugger.

Unbelievable! People need to be sacked over this one. Laverde and Goddard both available and we go for another Shappard type play, a light 183cm half back who they hope might make the grade as a midfielder. Are they the only people in the state who don't know we need big bodied mids? Feel like crying.

184cm, 74kg....why the fuck do we keep drafting the same type of masten like players. Fucking hope hee doesn't turn into a crab like masten
Idiots! Sack the recruiting staff.
Tough luck with Cockatoo, but Duggan? Laverde was available?
We, as a club, have lost the plot. Wait till I figure out who Duggan is related to and WTF we drafted him.
Sorry I couldn't come in earlier, I had trouble getting my fist out of the old cupboard door I put it through.

Duggan ..."a poor man's Kade Simpson" ?!

Gotta be honest, I think my preference at the time was for De Goey or Laverde. De Goey has looked "ok", but he went at #5 anyway.
Laverde has yet to play a game, whilst Duggan continues to impress.

Love him. The way he has just gone out and played like he has probably always played just makes him look natural.
Trenchy Duggin should be this weeks Rising Star nom, especially after every commentator today kept raving about him and basically telling them he should be.
Great kid, great future ...get his bloody signature NOW!!! :D

I can't determine what rates higher on the 'sad' scale.

The fact you rated Naitanui above Judd on the débutant list, or that you saved a plethora of quotes to start a conflict.

Duggan, brilliant game, son.

Judd debut (or is it debutted or debuted?) after Naitanui?

As Dazz said "Since" Naitanui. Not rating either higher, just that he hasn't been impressed with a debut like he has been since Natanuis.

Best midfielder to debut since Judd.

Hope he avoids injury and continues his development.

Indeed, SINCE Naitanui, and furthermore my comment was related to my level of surprise and excitement. I KNEW Darling would be good, and I suspect that even with Gaff my expectations were high.

Quotes hardly need saving, they are there in the draft thread for anyone to see, and as I clearly said even my preference at the time was for someone else.

Just really impressed with this young man. Barely 18, and appears to have heaps of upside.
I have thought (hoped?) for a few months now that our latest draft efforts were very impressive, yet Duggan continues to surpass expectations.

Simpson mentioned that he has earned himself a regular midfield spot.

A regular midfield spot for a kid just over 18...

Indeed, he's nolonger just the kid they're trying to get games into, he's become an automatic selection each week.

CD, I love how I've been quoted....but I followed my initial post with this....

Did not like to hear Lamb being compared to Jack Watts, but has won games of his own boot.

It looks like both lamb and Clavka were draft sliders? phantom drafts had lamb in the top 20, clavka in the top 35

fixed :D

No dig at anyone intended, just pointing out that many of us, myself included, seriously underestimated this young lad.

Edit: Its actually funnier reading it without the names..

As I said at the time in that thread... I never understood why people got so upset over who we draft. I can understand getting upset over player selections in the team... because we can all watch WAFL and Eagles games and can form an educated opinion on that.

But saying who should get selected in the draft is ridiculous. Unless everybody here gets to see every single player in every TAC Cup and WAFL U19 games every weekend there is no possible way anyone can know who we should select with our pick. That's why the club hires several recruiters around the country to do this!
