I'm planning on doing this one, will probably have most of my usual group of Melb-based members making a long weekend of it, doing a bit of sightseeing around it - the NE of Tas is supposed to be magnificient (Bicheno, Wineglass Bay), but it's the part of the state I haven't seen yet.

I did the 2005 game there. Caught the Spirit of Tasmania over (really just for the experience of doing it) - a good trip, smooth, reasonably-priced if you get a deal at the right time, a few bars on board, each with the footy showing, and it's not far from East Devonport Ferry Terminal to Launceston (either if you drive your car onto the ferry, or there's a connecting bus that meets the ferry).

Only big problem I found was that the Boags Brewery only opens on weekdays, not even on the weekends when there's footy (and lots of tourists) in town. Might try to do that on the Friday, the day before the game...

For those curious about visiting Tassie and also interested in beer, article in the travel section of The Age the other day about the 2 breweries in Tasmania, and the geographical divide across the state as to who drinks Cascade & who drinks Boags:

Wineglass Bay is magnificent on a sunny day. A fair hike there and back but worth it.

I'm from Hobart travelling up north to see the game, would love to catch up for a beer with fellow eagles! Pity AFL in Tasmania is played in that shitty place, Hobart is so much better.
