Going to a game interstate? Ticketing, how you're getting there etc.

I am looking at heading down to visit a mate for a "footy weekend" at some stage

This might be the perfect weekend to do so, Eagles Hawks under lights would be awesome.

Probably catch the corresponding Pies game that week as my mate follows them

Virgin Blue currently are having a sale - its $150 for a ticket Perth to Melbourne - same coming back. Booked in to go over for the Essendon Friday night game at the Dome. Going with my lions supporting brother so will catch the Dogs v Lions the next day... and also going with a blues supporting mate so will head to the G on sunday to watch Blues v Pies.

All the games should be pretty sweet. Will have to prebook seats for the eagles game i suppose - and will definately have to prebook for blues v pies. Planning on just rocking up to the dogs game. Whats the go at the G for a game like that... can you just buy the cheapest ticket then casually move around and sit in some good seats?

Will probably just book into a backpackers near the casino... I dont plan to be in my room for very long :D

General admission areas depend alot on who's playing and how many reserved seats get sold. Obviously the home team members get the plum area's, then reserved seat sales start from the wing/flank and they sell block by block around to behind the goals. Whatever blocks aren't sold become general admission. The blocks available for general admission are posted on the MCG site a few days before the game.

For Westen Bulldogs, they generally chew up the ground and second level Great Southern Stand and Olympic Stand areas. Best general admission would probably be Ponsford Stand for a day game. They should have some good second level seating free for General Admission starting from the Southern Stand and working around behind the goals and you won't be looking into the sun like the general admission in the great Southern Stand.

Can't wait. Flights are booked and will be going to 3 games (maybe 4) over 3 days in Melbourne including this one and the ANZAC day game.

Thanks for the info. Never been to the Dome (and only been the G twice - one happy, one sad).

I might see you there EP....Im thinking of doing exactly the same thing :D

3 of us are going over for the weekend. We are planning on catching at least 2 games, the ANZAC game and Eagles vs Doggies.

Sico mentioned Swanston Walk cafe. I have been there heaps of times and the food is good. Big serves and tasty. Service is always friendly and it has a great atmosphere. You can eat inside, though not many tables, or outside under an awning. It's a terrific place to people watch.

This time we are staying at a hotel on Spencer St called the Harbour View Apartments. I have never stayed there before and I have read mixed reviews, however it is only a 5 minute walk from the TD.

We have our flights booked for ANZAC match and the WCE v Doggies too!

Looks like there is going to be a lot of Eagles supporters at the Dome that night!

Was considering going to Carlton v Crows, but dont really want to contribute any of my money to Juddas' wages.

Usually a couple of weeks before. There should no hassle in getting tickets to the Bulldogs game, they have a small membership base.

That game may be harder to get tickets to. I can't answer when they will be available but you can't get them now. Keep trying the Ticketmaster website every Monday morning.

Reserved Seat sales for Victorian games should go on sale to the gerneral public week starting 3rd March. There may be the odd game that will have a different date. (eg the Anzac Day game)

Is there any way to make sure tickets bought are in the Eagle section? IF so, what is the best way of doing that? I am heading over for the June 13 game vs Essendon. Would be awesome to sit amongst the blue and gold faithful!
