Some people on twitter are complaining that they should get priority because they have been members for 20 years.
But looking at the numbers 20 year members (1997) are actually in 2nd half of whole membership.
if you signed up in 87 when there were 2800 members, you are in the first 4.6%, 88 =first 14%, but by 1996 almost half of current members had already signed up- 48.5%.
When you convert that to the stadium the most sort after seats- lower bowl northern wing (4000 seats) would go to the noteholders and 1987 members.
I accept that, but I still dont trust the computer, because we have seats 7 rows from roof in the pocket and have been members since 1988. I can only assume people before us have added mates and taken up all the good seats.

You had premium seats at Subi and got offered cat b or less at the new stadium?
I ask as I was taking most of the whinging to be coming from those in blocks 130 to about 137 and blocks about 108-112 at Subi. Those people were never going to get the ‘same’ seats at the new stadium for the same price. It’s why the eagles have been really clear that they cannot replica seating positions from Subi to the stadium.

Yep, premium at subi, southern wing, back row. I'll only keep the new stadium membership for a year after this fiasco

That’s wrong. Doesn’t make sense. I’ve checked online. There are about 7 seats next to ours in block 113 that are un-allocated.

I counted how many unallocated seats there were in each block, I asked about this and membership told me they kept some seats available in most areas, to give to people who were for what ever reason not allocated seats.
BUT, I also noticed that there has been some movement, block 117 had 4 free seats friday morning, and by friday night it had gone to 0, about 20 blocks changed the number of seats available, usually either going up or down by about 2 or 3 no more than 10. I asked about this and how come people were moving since the note holders were all done and no one's seat window is open. They got sheepish and said oh well we have had to move some people, but you can't move.

The Optus deal will provide a small windfall, but in the scheme of things it is a pittance and is in major conflict with the AFL and West Coast’s association with Telstra.

If the Government really wants to make some money and put a dent in its debt then sell Western Power......The WA Government should sell everything it owns to a corporate partner.

Let's sell everything but the stadium naming rights!! \

I don't know who edits Karl Langdon's articles, but whoever does ought to be sacked. Similarly Langdon needs to dig deeper to find something of value to write about (although it appears he has hit the bottom of the barrel or is devoid of imagination). This piece is reminiscent of a madman ranting about the stadium naming rights and using the topic as a smokescreen for his political beliefs. The reality is that, in several months time, nobody will give a damn about the name of the stadium (other than Langdon it seems), let alone the next decade.

Speaking of all this telco stuff...have provisions been made with the new stadium so that we actually have mobile phone service, and in particular, reliable data service?

I marvel when at the MCG with a modest 50-60k people and data service is essentially flawless

I walked around the outside of the stadium a few weeks ago with a friend to get an idea of where I wanted to sit, where train station is etc. Train station is pretty much in the middle at the Eastern end and has a walkway that splits into two to go around each side of the stadium. The way it looked to me , it wouldn't matter which side you were on, the distance from the train station is the same. Exiting could see a lot of people heading out the southern side to go to Casino/Vic park, or Western side to the East Perth pedestrian bridge (if it's ever finished). I'm in block 143.

Has anyone been successful in changing seats? I can't access any changes until Thursday (16th) morning but just noticed that the seats I want to move into are now gone, so someone else has snapped them up. BUGGER!

It's all a bit fluid. I'm in your boat, although I can't change mine until next Monday. In the meantime my currently allocated seats will be unavailable to others. There will be some shifting (fluidity) as people change seats because there are no doubt many seats that are allocated to people seeking to move (when they will appear as available). Unless your ideal seat becomes available during the first few days of your your 'window of opportunity' I would be waiting until the last possible moment before deciding.

The seats allocated to me are ok, but not ideally where I want them. I'll wait the entire week if I need to in order to secure a more preferable seat. If one doesn't become available, I'll secure my allocated seats. All the while others may be happy to take my allocated seats, but can't.

Just changed mine, I was put 7 rows from the back and that's too dizzy for me, I was watching seats go all day waiting for my window to open. Took best available, couldn't be bothered refreshing every few minutes over the course of a week, hoping that a group of 4 decided they wanted to "downgrade", and that I would be there to snap them up first when they became free.

I noticed block 123 (lower level north west side), had 72 free seats Yesterday, but were down to about 6 seats in singles, by 11am today.
Actually that will be a problem, the computer allocated groups next to one another, which eliminated left overs single seats, but with the option to move, a lot of groups of 4 are moving to 5 seats in a row OR 2 into an area of 3 and creating single isolated seats. Most of blocks now have quite a few seats on their own, and should only get worse.

There should be 3 colours on the map, Green- available, Red- those allocated and secured and Yellow - those allocated but not secured. You'd get a much better idea of what could possibly become available.

Domo, your preference is to watch it on tv. Those of us trying to get good seats LOVE the whole thing....going to a game, having coffee or a meal before or after the game, catching up with friends, cheering along with a heap of other people with (mostly) the same mind set, being PART OF the Club, then going home to watch it again on tv (if we win). I'm not complaining, because I got awesome seats, but I fully understand why some people aren't happy with what they've been offered. The seats you get are a major part of the experience. For those of us who are members, being part of the Club feels good (even if the Club doesn't reciprocate that love). We don't want to lose that connection.

You're young with a young family with lots on your plate. I'm in my 50's, my kids are all grown up and moved out.
Going to the footy every fortnight is MY THING (and on a scale of importance in my life it's right up there at a ridiculous level).
