Just for added troll factor the statue should include motion activated sensors which cause it to raise its arm when people walk close.

How about a statue of Charlie Dixon missing a shot at goal? We need to find a way to thank him.

From the abc article...
'It should be noted that the AFL — which generated half a billion dollars in revenue last year — did not chip in a cent to the Perth Stadium project.'

So the AFL refuse to chip in any money for a WA stadium, but did so for Adelaide and Geelong, and fully funded GWS and GC.

2017 sponsor of #30 - Jackson (he's too good to be only 21) Nelson. 21yo, pick #51 in 2014, a bonus pickup.

Hardly unexpected. Actually I am surprised that the AFL gave any funds to Adelaide.

I rode past the new stadium last night after work, by the river then the freeway, it was early twilight. They must have been doing a light test, the inside lights were on and the outside LED were also on on a slow cycle thought what looked like team colours. Looked fantastic! The stadium will more than likely be a nightmare to get to and from but there can be no doubt it will look like a dream.

I'm pretty sure that the AFL had committed the putting in funds to the Kitchener Park stadium that was being built a the time the Emperor came to power and cancelled it. (In a dirty piece of election deceit). Carpenter had made sure of that before he committed the Government to building it. Whilst the Emperor consulted no one other than his good self and thought the AFL horse would follow the WA cart; but why should it, especially when the cart in far away land was already doing what it wanted?

Epileptics beware.

Probably more exciting for a rock concert / rave than a football game however interesting to see. Pity there was nothing in this video taken from the outside.

I am no expert on how the state is run..but it is clear that Barnett wanted to keep the stadium as fully funded by the state. Why? I believe his intention was to sell it (which would be much easier if the state has paid the whole lot). Most likely Crown...

If I am reading this correctly, why should the AFL get money if they didn't invest any into it?

This is the first time I’m hearing the problem lay anywhere else other than with the WAFC.

Perhaps due to the WAFC’s insistence on funding grassroots footy through unreasonable demands for financial guarantees from a broke state, the VFL grudgingly is putting money into the stadium. But to do so it wants access to revenue in years 11 to 20 to recoup its money and wants revenue from other sports to shore up its returns. But this is pure speculation on my part, I’m just trying to imagine a scenario where this reported VFL demand even makes sense.

Can you imagine if we rot in Subi? Heads will roll.

I didn't even know they were selling the naming rights.

There were early talks after the election, then they said it would stay as Perth Stadium.

Optus Stadium... yuk!

Was between that and Bankwest. Would have been able to handle Bankwest a lot more than Optus.

"9NEWS understands it will be officially announced on Sunday by the Government and the AFL.

It means the Eagles and Dockers can start selling their memberships, which has caused a cash flow problem for both clubs.

The Eagles were taking a thousand calls a day from anxious fans."

Anxious fans??!!?? More like furious fans outraged about how their unaccountable owner took the deal to a knife's edge just to grab an unrealistic revenue stream to fund grass roots footy. And by doing so, threw an orderly transition to Perth Stadium into chaos.

After the deal is signed, how long before we finally start to see details of where we've been allocated seats (if you registered) and how much they will cost?
