I actually like the idea of Ah Chee - at 23 he is the right age bracket for us and is one of those rare inside mids who can go forward.

I watch that video of him releasing outside runners into space with handballs, and I imagine Jetta on the end of those and get a little excited.

He needs work - but if we can pick him up relatively cheap I will be happy.

Interesting comment.

Played 203 games thus far, you would hope + 200 for from a number 13 draft pick.
Brownlow Medal votes. Polled 55 career votes. 2 votes less than Gavin Wanganeen and has him as the 7th highest career vote receiver for Port. (It would place him above Dean Keep and 13th for the Eagles)
FinalSiren.com has his player average player rating as better this year than any other so no issue with maintaining his form.

Does well in Ports Best and Fairest.
Port Adelaide - best and fairest 2017 - John Cahill Medal
1. Paddy Ryder 241
2. Charlie Dixon 234
3. Tom Jonas 203
4. Robbie Gray 202
5. Brad Ebert 190

Port Adelaide - best and fairest 2016
1. Robbie Gray (230)
2. Ollie Wines (206)
3. Jasper Pittard (190)
4. Brad Ebert (164)

Port Adelaide - best and fairest 2015
1. Robbie Gray - 243 votes
2. Chad Wingard - 230
3. Jack Hombsch - 177
4. Travis Boak - 173
5. Justin Westhoff - 156
6. Brad Ebert - 140

2014
Brad Ebert - John McCarthy Award

Port Adelaide - best and fairest 2013
1. Chad Wingard 284 votes
2. Travis Boak 266
3. Kane Cornes 221
4. Brad Ebert 210

Port Adelaide - best and fairest 2012
1 – Kane Cornes 18
2 – Matthew Broadbent, Brad Ebert 16

No doubt Brat Ebert has been one of Ports best ever players. As for his early from with us, their will always be freaks like Judd and Franklyn but as a general rule of thumb the bigger the player the longer they take to hit their best football. Somewhere between 60 to 100 games. Port got hold of Brad Ebert from us after we had put the hard yards into developing him. It was always a complete rip off. He was the big bodied player we needed and thus developed; he left a hole we've still not filled.

Fair enough he wanted to go home given the family name, but he and Port were more than happy to see us underpaid and used the preseason draft threat to make sure we accepted it. The Eagles should never forget it.

I don't rate him. If he played for us he would be maligned like Masten. Okay runner, but average kick.

Fair enough personal opinion.

I do agree about his kicking and most players get maligned at some stage; unfortunately. However he has a far greater impact on games that above mentioned player and not just with his physical strength, he is one of those who can lift and become a genuine match winner; which probably accounts for his good Brownlow record. Anyway enough discussed, more about Port being impossible to deal with and we should take this opportunity to plunder them as they would / have us and every other team.

Yes we should take the opportunity for a bit of screwback. They are a bunch of bogan *bandits and have earned it.

That does raise a question. Who would you rank as being fair to deal with and who are a bunch of ****ers?

I don't like the salary cap rorting, draft manipulating, tanking crew from Carlton, but they could have screwed us on the Judd deal but actually dealt a pretty fair trade. The Scum and Bogans definitely rank as being a bunch of tossers.

I think Ebert has been pretty good and was sorry to him go. Not a great player, but a pretty good one as a biggish mid who can go forward. He should know how to play forward - that's all we did with him!
2017 sponsor of #5 - Brad (Mr Reliable) Sheppard. 25yo, 100+ games and counting.
2017 sponsor of #6 - Elliot (how good could he be) Yeo. Only 23 and looking to hit 100 career games in 2017.
2017 sponsor of #23 - Lewis (we need this excitement) Jetta. 27yo and heading for 150 career games.
2017 sponsor of #30 - Jackson (he's too good to be only 21) Nelson. 21yo, pick #51 in 2014, a bonus pickup.

He is a much better footballer than Masten. But he may never have been if he had stayed here and continued in the crew waiting for midfield opportunities behind Priddis. He did the right thing other than letting Port screw us over.

Great question. I would love us to go back to the old days when we dealt with the Dockers. That was always fun. I am sure they have fond memories of the "stars" we sent to them.

St Kilda have proven okay to deal with. We got fair trades for Gehrig and Cripps.

Port are probably still dirty over the signing of Downsborough that was crucial to us getting Gardiner!

Who?

He was an uncontracted player so no blaming us; buyer beware. Did we get compensation for him? I can see they traded us pick 57 for Lyle and Bond; another bargain for them! We probably tried to trading Downsborough but no doubt they told us they could get him for free and gave us the bird. Interestingly they did give the Scum pick 2 and 28 for Scott Cummings in the same draft - no doubt contracted.

Adelaide did well to get what they did for Lever. Demons got shafted a little.

I reckon Melbourne won out of that one and the Crows rolled over just a little. Lever is good at a young age and most likely to get much better. It's a space to watch however to see who the long term winner will be.

I also wonder how the rest of the Melbourne players feel about such a young player coming in and getting paid so much? Maybe they should consider leaving in order to increase their own contract worth; get some big bucks of their own? Maybe even get to play in finals?

Port said Ah Chee would go into the draft if a deal couldn't be done. Are we likely to cave?
Or could we get him in the Pre-season draft/ late pick in National Draft??
