"If you talk to footy coaches it is a two-year recovery, so this first year back after an ACL they tend not to play as well, they tend to be improving out to their pre-injury level."

Interesting article on Naitanui's recovery trajectory.

I would have thought that a doctor would not be allowed to discuss a patient unless they had the patient's approval. And in this case the club's.

Is this a PR ploy to prepare us to lower our expectations?

I thought Mainy's ACL was the worst ever. Surely they are not comparing NN's to his?

The West Coast Eagles forwards coach told TAB Radio that second year talent Willie Rioli and new draftee Liam Ryan were gunning for a berth in the club’s season opener on March 25.

I am looking forward to the pre-season games to see how a forward line with these two looks.

Hopefully, we can get excitement with consistency.

There were nine new players who arrived at the Eagles via last year's drafts, with Subiaco excitement machine Liam Ryan always looming as the most likely early debutant. The way the high-flying forward pocket has settled in to a professional environment has done nothing to change those perceptions, while coaches and teammates alike have been excited by his electric pace and phenomenal leap during match simulation drills.

Hopefully the plan is to have both ryan and rioli at the feet of kennedy and darling.

It is not looking good for JK to play in the first few rounds.

Last I heard was he was ahead of schedule and was looking at being ready for the JLT.

Hurn is the 2018 captain. Shuey and Kennedy his vice.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-01-25/v ... o-moonboot

WEST Coast key defender Eric Mackenzie has suffered a setback with his troublesome toe and has been forced back into a moonboot only a month out from the JLT Community Series.

Oh No! Everything is going wrong. JK unlikely for R1, Naitanui unlikely to have an impact, Yeo and Gaff recovering from surgery...and now, Mackenzie has had a setback. It is a disaster.

I think we should ready ourselves for a bottom four finish in 2018.

Rioli has really slimmed up. Looks in great condition.

Rioli and Watson looked good at the open training. Ryan looked a bit tired.

Shuey has a hip issue too. Nic Nat still getting back to form, he's still not training with the main group. JK, Gaff and Yeo all with niggles. EMac out. A lot of young players and very few players that seem hungry to get the hard ball at the bottom of the pack and tackle. Could be a lean year. I don't think it'll be as bad as 2010.

Dont think they will be going at premiership season speed and hardness just yet.
