It would certainly be a change this year to have the edge in the ruck.

Good news. Don't change a winning team (unless there are unreported injuries)

Agree, assuming this finals campaign ends in the next week or so, the finals experience gotten into Partington/Duggan/Sheed/Barrass are really the most important measurable outcome.

This is why "just making the eight is making up numbers" is BS.
We scraped it in and look where we are and the experience the players are getting.

Curious, all this talk about Nic not being match fit. Why couldn't the club have organised a scratch match vs East Perth?

I guess the real issue is that our club is not renowned for telling the truth when it comes to a player's real condition regarding injuries .

Instead of issuing videos of him jumping out of his skin doing rehab in the USA and raising our hopes unrealistically ( good for club PR , but we should know by now to take such information with a large grain of salt ) , they could have been more honest in their information about where he really stands in his quest for a comeback and take some of the pressure off him .

I don't believe the club gets any real advantage by disseminating disinformation , but they certainly lose a lot of respect from their members as a consequence .

They're never going to say that he definitely will not play unless they're forced to (injury to Vardy/Petrie and non NN selection). If they get really desperate he'll be called upon. A lot of it is ducks and drakes to keep the opposition guessing.

I like your thoughts on this one Mead but I can't see the selectors and coach suddenly growing testicles and making any bold match winning moves. They go by the motto; "he who dares might stuff it up." We'll go in with plan A, and once the Giants work that out; we'll stick with plan A.

I dropped the '1st' out of the title as it read too similar to the previous match day thread.

Looking forward to this game.

This is a statistic that really surprised me to read today on the ALF site. I thought it would have been more. Hopefully this weekend he makes up a few.

In LeCras' 11 finals appearances, he has returned just 12 goals - well down on his usual output.

I'm not. It has always been one of my issues with him. He is the ultimate junk time player. Once the pressure goes off you know LeCras will bob up to get his quota.

Small forwards to tend to have an impact in finals.

Except for the three first quarter goals against Port in Adelaide earlier in the year.

Which final was that?

That was actually my favorite bit of the crows game. Watching Eddie carve up the smartass loudmouth. We cannot let Shaw dictate what goes on in our forward line.

Partington played the defensive forward against Power. Big ask, but give him a run on Shaw.

A lot of the talk is that we will remain unchanged. We are apparently taking 26 players on the plane.

Simpson is still driving reporters nuts on the Nic playing topic. Having a bit of fun with it.

I think put Nic on the plane and name him as an emergency. Get them thinking. A few mind games. Send the media into a frenzy.

NN wasn't on the plane.

At the end of the day noone knows his exact situation but the medicos, but it seems awfully like the decision of a club which feels it has already ticked its boxes for 2017 and isn't very interested in taking risks to advance further.
