Great servant of the club and always put the club before personal glory. West Coast should be looking at a player development role for him teaching youngsters how to prepare themselves and get their bodies right.

Integrity is a much overused word, but Matt Priddis must have a load of it.
I can remember him in the WAFL (cutting us up through the middle) so this is a guy who did it the hard way - worked incredibly hard to get to where he is.
Top class disposer of the football by hand after digging it out in the tough part of the ground by putting his body on the line.
Brownlow Medallist.
Club legend.
I have nothing but respect for him.
Enjoy your retirement and your beautiful family.
All the best.

Priddis is an inspiration. There are many that say that a player has extracted the maximum from his ability, in reference to someone who doesn't possess the classic skills, but very few of those get to say they won a Brownlow Medal and a Sandover Medal. Nobody works harder than Priddis at the club and he sets a standard of training and effort that has no doubt been passed on to others.

An absolute ripper of a bloke too. Salt of the Earth sort of guy. A man of unquestionable integrity on and off the field. He came into the club where integrity was lacking. He helped change the club culture during those difficult times post 2006 and took a leadership role.

I truly wish the absolute best for him and his family into the future. He is a legend of the club and that will be more apparent as the years pass by. A wonderful career. Thank you for everything you have done for our great club.

Nothing but respect for Pridda and have been a supporter of his ability to extract the footy when no other could. Saw the writing on the wall and responded like the great team man he is. Will miss his hard work under the pack and i hope he is retained by WC in a youth development role. Hating some of the negative shit on the AFL page.

Where would people think he ranks in terms of players at the club all-time?

Maybe do that on another thread, hey? This one should be about recognising his achievements and longevity.

One of the most consistent players the club has ever had over a long time. Always gave 100%. Brownlow medalist that all ways gave his all. The team will miss his hardness. I wish him well in his retirement.

Owes nothing to anybody. Best of luck to him. And yeah its been said before but he is the ultimate example of getting the absolute best out of yourself through sheer hard work and tenacity.

Will particularly look fondly back on his 2007 season and the stabilising influence he had on a club that was coming apart at the seams.

Well done to him, has made the right decision for himself and the club.

Backhanded compliments aside, he spent several years as the quintessential inside, ball winning, contested football beast in the competition and until age caught up with him was one of the most consistent players ever to have played for west coast. At some point, being able to rock up and play a solid 7/10 game every week for seasons on end, always putting your head over the ball, always putting maximum effort in and never having an off day becomes a superstar attribute.

Hopefully fan frustration with his position in the team will subside now its been resolved, and he can finish his career on a high.

This is not really the thread for it, but his decision to retire at this point perfectly highlights what a complete shambles west coast's list management has been this year. He's done the right thing, west coast have totally failed to plan for this for the last 12 months.

Terrific write up from the AFL website

BROWNLOW medallist Matt Priddis has announced his retirement, bringing down the curtain on one of the greatest careers in West Coast history.

He will hang up the boots as one of the most revered and respected Eagles ever, and his tale of persistence is an inspiration to many aspiring footballers.

I would like to add my voice to salute Matt Priddis and his stellar playing career .
He played in a very tough position and was always found on the bottom of packs , with a firm hold on the ball .
His Brownlow medal was well earned and will assure he will always be remembered as a club legend .

I can't really add anything. All the honours won were well deserved.

All the best. One who came across as a nice guy as well as a loyal club man.
