West Coast football operations manager Craig Vozzo confirmed Lycett’s shoulder popped out, but it was quickly put back in. The 24-year-old’s recovery period will depend on how much ligament damage is revealed by scans.

This was the exact reason why we recruited Vardy and Petrie. To my knowledge Giles is still injured.

Combo 1: Llycett / Vardy
Combo 2: Giles / Vardy
Combo 3: Llycett / Giles
Combo 4: Petrie / Vardy
Combo 5: Giles / Petrie

So it looks like Combo 4 will start round 1

Giles played yesterday and is expected to play for EP next week to get game time into him.

We recruited Vardy because he was cheap and has tremendous upside.
We recruited Petrie because he's a mate of Simmo's, we want to offer him a coaching gig, and because we are stupid.

Vardy was recruited as a backup ruck/fwd. Petrie was recruited to back up Vardy should he be injured. Giles is the number one available ruckman and will play with Vardy. Petrie will only play if all the others are not available.

Petrie will play FF if JK goes down. That's the other reason he was added to our list.

Yep - Petrie is a stop gap solution...a last resort in the ruck and up forward should the worst happen.

I think better to have a 300+ gamer in a final rather than a beanpole rookie.

Exactly, Petrie is Plan C or D. i think WC were wise to use him as short term back up.

Hopefully Giles will be right for round 1 and it will be Giles/Vardy ruck combo.

I would have thought this situation is exactly why Petrie was here.... as insurance for Nic Nat, Lycett and any of the other rucks going down.

Or the disaster that was Mitch Brown! Petrie would have been a much better option for last years final.
