Still contracted although rumoured to be seeking a trade (mentioned wanting to go to Qld) so not sure how valid that is. Think he spent some time in WA so may be tempting - reckon he would be a brilliant pick up and also reckon Adelaide wont let him go but pyke might like some of the midfield guys he coached when at eagles

Aliir Aliir? Sydney seem to have passed him over and he did spend time in WA.

I may be in the minority regarding the younger McGovern, but i would rather not pay overs for another forward.

Kennedy, Darling, McGovern and a resting ruck is just too tall.

Id rather see us focus on getting the best explosive, line breaking mid with our first round pick.

With our supposed War Chest and our desire to get Mitch Mcgovern the biggest problem lies with what we would have to give up for him.

What do you think it'd take?

Others on the radar to consider would be

Sam Reid - Sydney Swans
Kurt Tippett - Sydney Swans

Reid - next year 26 and considered a forward/back. Not really our areas that we want filling. Maybe but wouldn't get me excited, and as for...
Kurt Tippett - 31 next year and injury prone. Performances have really dropped off and would be an absolute waste of salary cap space.

Mitch McGovern is younger and better and while not a mid would be an 8-10 year player. Your question is valid. What price? With Domo that we don't want to pay overs - NO FIRST ROUND PICK! But would be very happy for less than that.

He has a good imagination. Us offer money to lure a player here? Don't think we have ever done that before.

Article is basically saying that to lure Kelly the offer would have to be similar to the Treloar deal two years ago.

Collingwood paid 2 first round picks (pick 7 and 65 2015 and pick 7 2016) for Treloar and pick 28 in 2015

Carlton would need to offer pick 3 and another 1st round pick for Kelly and Hopper, Where they get the pick is open for debate.

North Melbourne have pick 4 and 21 and may offer up Brayden Preuss

Saints have picks 7 and 8, very similar to Treloar deal.

Question would be what do we have to offer for Kellys services. At present we have picks 10 and 28, Could we offer pick 10, 28 and Lycett for Kelly and would he be worth it given the 1.3 million price tag.

It won't happen.

Hypothetically though, I'd give up Lycett and a bunch of picks for Kelly and Lobb.

Hindsight is a great thing. Lamb was the player with a much bigger ceiling. Was proposed as a big bodied midfielder, something we were crying out for on these boards. Gov also got passed over in a draft or 2 already before being drafted, but I think we eyed him off with our third rounder, Adelaide jumped us and instead I think we got Nelson?

Its good that he stayed with the crows.

HAHA no forward half decent wants to go to freo.

Also blows Hagdorns McGovern brothers uniting at Freo theory away.
